We’re Building a Bigger and Better Health System

We’re investing in better healthcare for our community and getting on with the job of delivering our election commitments.

Chemist Warehouse at Saints has become a 24/7 pharmacy!

I have been caught out too many times needing to find medication for the little ones - and now I am able to just pop down the road at any time.

This is game changer and another commitment I’m proud we’ve delivered as part of team Malinauskas.

A Bigger, Better Modbury Hospital

We have plans to make it bigger and better than ever with:

  • A Mental Health Precinct with 24 mental health rehabilitation beds and a 20-bed Older Persons Mental Health unit - designed in consultation with those with lived experience.

  • A Cancer Centre to help our community receive lifesaving treatment closer to home.

  • A carpark with more than 300 spaces to help improve accessibility.

These improvements will go a long way to support the needs of our community, and works are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

New Hospital Avoidance Hub

We want to ensure that emergency departments are available for our most urgent cases.

Which is why we are developing an ED Avoidance Hub in the North, to help ensure people receive the right care, in the right place.

It will provide rapid, multidisciplinary care seven days a week, helping to keep our community out of EDs - keeping it free for those who absolutely need to be there.

Expanding the Lyell McEwin Hospital

A 48-bed hospital expansion to support the growing population in Adelaide's north is taking shape, with construction works on-track to be completed in September.

The $47 million project at Lyell McEwin Hospital will deliver two new 24-bed inpatient wards.

These 48 beds are part of the 150 newly built beds that will be opening this year as the Malinauskas Government builds a bigger health system. This is part of our plan to open 550 extra beds.

New Golden Grove Ambulance Station

We’re building a brand new ambulance station in Golden Grove to help strengthen health services in our neighbourhood.

And the build has begun! And I am pleased to share that the full crew who’ll be based at the station are already on board.

That’s 32 additional paramedics on the road helping to service the needs of our community.
